LA d1 traders
So this week I've spent my time and plat putting together a perfect hornbow for purposes of ranger spiking in PVP. I opted to buy the components (15>50 shadow bow, 5:1 vamp string, +5 defense because I didn't feel like buying a +30). Naturally, I went to trading central LA d1 to try and find my stuff. First offer for a vamp string... 100k. I laugh and ask if she's serious. I then get 30k ok? After several hugely inflated offers, I finally found one for 8k negotiated down from 20k. For the grip of defense, most of the offers I got were floating around 20-30k, until I gave up and went ot another town and bought one for 2k.
Doesn't it seem like buy low sell high had gone a bit too far? Are these people actually managing to sell anything? It seems like the idea is you only have to sell one ridiculously priced item and you're good for life. Is anyone actually buying things even remotely close to the asking prices in LA d1?

As long as platinum is as readily available as eBay, there will always be someone who'll pay overinflated prices.

This is a little off topic, but if you want to see another crazy thing, go to International
droks D1 and stand by storage, you will have so many ppl trying open a trade window
you, it is just silly. It is a very active area, I wish I spoke some different languages,
would be a blast to be able to know what is being said and stuff.

I used to complain about this a lot, but it was always a problem in GW. This is why we need mod and weapons traders (as well as the de-nerfing of drops).
Another thing is for people to stop paying so much plat for items.
Part of me wants to get the hang of IDS farming just so I can undercut everyone else and bring the prices down.

Don't silly. IDS are still selling for about 20k which is alot to many many players.
BTW Winterclaw the drop rate on IDS totally blows and hence the price is staying high. 16 runs 1 IDS. Many others have had the same experience. It is just not worth the time to go farm them.
Mod Edit: Be polite and civil and don't call other poster's names please. Take some time to read the Forum guidelines. Thank you.

People are trying to sell weapon upgrades, especially Sword and Axe upgrades, for outright stupid prices. Think how easily you can salvage a sword hilt (such as Icy), yet they go for 10-15k. And while standing in Droknar's 1 last night I saw someone trying to sell off a Barbed Sword Hilt for 25k. Then I was looking for a +20 Bow Grip of Fortitude for my Warrior's pulling bow, and I get this whisper saying they have one for 5k. It's getting crazy, people see one weapon upgrade go for a high price, and automatically assume their weapon upgrade goes for a lot also. It may be understandable that Icy hilts go for a bit more because of their use along with Spinal Shivers. But there is no reason on this planet why other common items like Barbed hilts, and +20 Grips of Fortitude would go for that much. And it's useless trying to reason with these people explaining why a +20 grip of fortitude would go for 500g at most. It's extremely frustrating, I wish I knew what the answer was.

I know what you mean, I was after a shocking string a couple of weeks ago and some one offered me one for 30k, I laughed in their face.
I get another one for 15k, and I did the same.
I finally found one in Droks and paid the guru price of 500gp
Moral of the story, never shop in LA.

i dont ever go to la unless i need a quick sale. the prices are disgusting and the buy low is non-existent when you have hundreds of well known campers there. long gone are the days of farmers not knowing what their stuff is worth and being able to pick up good deals several times an hour.

I tried to buy mods for my sword the other day, specifically a zealous and a +5 armor mod.
The first price for a Zealous mod was 30k.
Armor mod was 60k
I told those people piss off.
This guy was selling a +5 armor mod for 30k and I told him to go away (although probably in a rude manner). Laterwards I saw him again in Droks d1 and he sold it to me at my original price request: 5k.
Oh, and I got my zealous mod from a nice guy in LA d3 for 1k

we could just make a team of people from GW to go out and farm constantly and then sell all of the stuff at really reduced prices to bring the economy back down, we could be like the A-Team, excpt with less explosions.
Economy Stabalisation team!
oh and just to be on topic: A newb like me who doesnt know the ins and outs of the game will happily pay zillions of K for a few mods.

I'm standing in LA 1 right now, and here's a few things I see on the trade channel (I always keep local off):
"WTS Barbed Sword Hilt (20k)"
"WTS staff wrapping of death magic +1 (20%) 100k + 40 ecto"
"WTS Zealous Sword Hilt (10k)"
"WTS Axe Grip of Defense +5 (15k)"
"WTS Sundering Bow String 10/10 (45k)" <--utterly disgusting
I've made a note of certain well known LA 1/Droknar's 1 spammers that tend to try to sell overpriced and want to buy low, and I overlook anything they post. It's extremely painful to average gold makers like myself who need a relatively common weapon mod and have to shell out tons of platinum. There needs to be a way to stablize the economy, I feel a Weapon Upgrade Trader would be a good way to do that. Weapon upgrades are really the only thing I notice that are ridiculously overpriced, and I do believe it would only help the economy if these prices were regulated somewhat.

This is one big reason I moved back to Euro servers. These ''oh what the hell let's all ask 15k from blue dye'' traders are issue in American side. And it started when trading spots started spamming ridicilous prices from weapon upgrades and so.
Let's say there are bot1: WTS:Pommel+30HP 100k+10ecto
bot2: jaadijaa 100k
bot3: jaadijaa 80k
bot4: WTB:Pommel+30HP 100k+15ecto
Now one can think that hey I buy that pommel for 80k and start selling it for 100k + xx Ectos because I see people(bots) really posting that they want them.
This actually happens in Droknars AD/ID all the time. Sweatfarmers & bots fool people to raise prices.

Yep, that's exactly how it happens. I think I've made my last effort in spamming my items in LA 1 / Droknar's 1 today. It's simply a waste of time, and you'll end up so desperate that you'll let a valuable item go for way under what it's worth. So I'll now do the majority of my buying/selling on here. It would have been smart to come to this conclusion sooner, though.

Hehe, I was trying to sell a Victo's axe for around 20k (max dmg, 15^50, perfect fortitude and sundering, cmon) and nobody would take it for above 15. Then I went and just copied down the mods and which skin the axe had, told its req, and started spamming it for 50 FRIGGEN PLAT. I got so many offers that it wasn't even funny. Once people saw that it was a Victo's, they refused to buy it again. The whole economy is severely screwed up.
LAD1 does have another good use though. Got someone annoying you? Just go yell "*INSERT NAME HERE* IS GIVING AWAY FREE ECTO/SHARDS TO THE FIRST 5 PEOPLE TOMESSAGE HIM # TImES IN A ROW" and they will usually stop messaging you after that... ehehehe.
I never buy nor sell items unless it's something I really don't want. I usually take my stupid gold items and give them away to newbies (real ones, not people with new characters) for free. Because I'm cool like that. XD.
Anyway: I wonder what would happen if a-net rerolled the economy and reset drop rates. That would be awesome. Just do that every six months and the prices would hit rock bottom almost permanantly.
